Grammar in this conversation — Ne… que — "only"

Ne… que means only — not a negation! Il ne reste que le bleu = only the blue is left. You'll hear it constantly in stores: Il n'y a que deux tailles (there are only two sizes). Listen for the que — it tells you a limit, not a refusal.

• Il ne reste que le bleu en grand.
• Je n'ai que vingt dollars sur moi.
• Le magasin n'accepte que les retours de trente jours.
