Overview

Connectors (connecteurs logiques) link your ideas and lift your French from basic to fluent. They signal contrast, cause, consequence, or addition. Learn one or two for each function.

Contrast (but / however / on the other hand)

Use these to show opposition between two ideas.

Cause (because / since / given that)

These introduce the reason behind something.

Consequence (therefore / so / thus)

These introduce the result.

Addition / reinforcement

Add a related point or confirm an idea.
